Scenographer and contributing artist for BOOK MACHINE (Paris)

Connecting geometric abstraction to the shape of our built environment, Mika Tajima's work interrogates the production of the performing subject in spaces where material objects and production imperatives shape action.  Tajima employs sculpture, painting, video, music, and performance, often drawing on contradictions in modernist design and architecture to consider today’s regime of collaborative production.
The artist was born in 1975 in Los Angeles, California, and now lives and works in New York. Tajima received a MFA from Columbia University School of the Arts in 2003.  Her work has been featured in several international exhibitions including: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (San Francisco, CA), Tensta Konsthall (Stockholm, Sweden), South London Gallery (London, UK),  Whitney Museum of Art (New York, NY), The Kitchen (New York, NY), The Fabric Workshop and Museum (Philadelphia, PA), Aspen Art Museum, (Aspen, CO), UT Visual Art Center (Austin, TX), Seattle Art Museum (Seattle, WA),  Sculpture Center (New York, NY), Bass Museum (Miami, CA), Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago, IL), Swiss Institute (New York, NY), Astrup Fearnley Museet (Oslo, Norway), Reykjavik Art Museum (Reykjavik, Iceland), and PS1 Contemporary Art Center (LIC, NY), among others.  Tajima is founding member of New Humans.
